Once upon a time, in a cozy little house at the top of a green hill, there lived a curious boy named Charlie, and his little brother, Teddy. Every single morning, Charlie would jump right out of bed, ready to see what the brand new day would bring.
"Guess what? Today is a big day!" said Charlie, with the biggest smile you ever saw. "Today, we get to go on an adventure!" And off they went, out the door and down the street, into the bright and sunny world.
But wait… what was that sound? Charlie stopped and listened very, very carefully. Was it a bird? Was it the wind? "Hmm," he wondered softly. "I'm not so sure." His tummy felt a little funny and flippy.
Then Teddy laughed and pointed up at the sky. A tiny red kite was dancing high above the trees! "Look, look!" they shouted together. "It's the most wonderful thing in the whole wide world!"
They walked all the way to Marin School, past the tall shady trees and the little houses with their flower gardens. One, two, three, four — Charlie counted every crack in the sidewalk as they went.
"Can we do it again tomorrow?" asked Teddy in a quiet, sleepy voice. Charlie gave him a warm hug. "Of course we can," he whispered. "Because that's what brothers are for."
And when the sun went down and the stars came out, one by one, Charlie climbed back into his cozy bed. He was so happy, and so sleepy, and so very proud. What a good, good day it had been. The end.
